Daily Coffee Fix

For all of you who were addicted to those gourmet coffees, mochas, frappchinos, and other high-calorie, high priced drinks we all seem to love so much, here is a new recipe to try:

Flavored Coffee
8-12 oz hot water
1 heaping tsp instant coffee or Via packet (or Pero, Postum etc.)
1 flavored tea bag (mint, spice, raspberry, orange etc.)
1 packet calorie free natural sweetener (Stevia, Xylitol, Sweet n Low)
1 tbs milk (only 1 serving a day)

Place hot water in cup, steep tea bag for 3 minutes. Discard tea bag.
Stir in coffee. Add sweetener and milk. Savor the flavors and enjoy!

You might want to try liquid Stevia. It comes in many flavors: cinnamon, vanilla, lemon, cognac, peppermint, orange (plus more). It's great for adding to drinks. :)

  1. I was a big user of the flavored creamers. They don't work on this diet because the sugar free ones have fat and the fat free ones have sugar. So I got the Torani Sugar Free Vanilla flavoring at Smart and Final (about $4.60 a bottle-the big bottle). I put a shot in my coffe and have found that I don't miss the creamers too much. My husband laughs at me because I keep a shot glass next to the coffee pot to measure with. I really don't think I'll go back to the flavored creamers. I do think I will, however add some low fat milk to my coffee when I can have more than a tablespoon a day.

  2. The Sugar Free Vanilla is a great idea! Thanks for the tip. I believe they also sell sugar-free peppermint if you'd like a new flavor.
