Very Low Calorie Diet: Days 3-30

Days 3 through 30 are known as Very Low Calorie Diet Days, or VLCD days.

Breakfast: Any calorie free beverage
Lunch: 1 protein, 1 vegetable, 1 fruit, 1 grain
Dinner: 1 protein, 1 vegetable, 1 fruit, 1 grain

On days 3-30, take the oral hCG twice daily, 12 hours apart. Wait ten minutes until eating or drinking.

On these days, do not go over 500 calories per day! Strictly follow the list of allowed foods which is located here.

Our suggested meal plan is as follows. If you would like to break up meals to have "leftovers" for snacks, just remember not to go over 500 calories.

Be sure to measure and weigh all your food. :)

  1. I found a great app on iTunes for my ipod touch! I'm a software test engineer, so always love trying out new software. It's called "hCG Diet app" by CodeQ inc. You can also get more information at www.hcgapp.com. It's $12.99, a little higher than I would normally spend on an app, but it's worth it. I researched the few others available and this one had the best reviews:

    Features:
    - You can access Dr. Simeon's book in either written or audio format from the app
    - Track your starting weight & measurements
    - Set up notifications to remind you when to take your hCG, bread, lunch, water, etc.
    - Track your daily water intake by "checking" off each glass
    - Check off your hCG doses
    - Check off your bread & fruit intake - this is huge for me because I have a horrible memory when it comes to whether or not I've eaten my breadstick!
    - Plan your meals for 2 weeks at a time, but you can always change them later
    - Once you plan your meals, it will automatically create a shopping checklist for you to take to the store!
    - It tracks Weight, Measurements and Photos to show you your progress.
    - Detailed information on each Stage (1 thru 4) if you forget anything
    - "can i eat?" tab - you can search by specific food type, or by food group and it will tell you whether or not you can eat something in the stage you are in, and what quantities to use if "Yes"

    PROS:
    - Home page gives you a status summary at the bottom, telling you what stage you are in, what day you're on in that stage, how many days are left in that stage, and how many pounds you've lost so far.
    - I love the weight progress graph, it's a big motivator for me!
    - The "can i eat" tab helped me to figure out just how much of a vegetable I should be weighing out instead of trying to guess.
    - I get a reminder twice a day to take my hCG so I don't forget!
    - "Today's Meals" - gives you the list just for today of what you're having for lunch & dinner if you've used the "plan meals" option
    - Program seems to be very stable - I've been running it for 12 days and it hasn't crashed on me once. I'm using it on my ipod touch 2nd generation with OS version 4.1.

    Cons:
    - App is a little pricey
    - App needs a journaling option or at least a place to make notes on each day, in case you've snuck a cookie in there, or didn't finish all your food, etc.
    - Needs ability to modify shopping list
    - Once you're on a new day, you can't go back and update yesterday's water intake, etc in case you forgot to update something.

    Hope this is helpful! :)
